Guy Fawkes might have been an authoritarian theocrat, but the character V wasn’t. That’s who we’re celebrating.

I would say that while the movie changes things from the book (enough that Alan Moore disavowed the movie), the movie translates the spirit of the book to the screen very well.

Which reminds me — I’ve got some reading and watching to do later today.

I’m also thinking that the BCLP might want to consider a screening of the movie for 5 November 2017, which falls on a Sunday.

At least in a lot of other states, voters can put ballot questions directly on the ballot if they get enough signatures. Here in New Mexico, we have to lobby the State Legislature pass a bill to have the prospective measure put on the ballot, then lobby the Governor to sign that bill.
