From the last paragraph of the article:

“If the establishment manipulates the rules to hold on to power indefinitely . . . .”

What’s this “If” ? Like there’s any doubt that the Political Class will hold on for dear life until it’s too late for them to do anything. When they do realize it’s too late for them, they’ll run like hell to get away and “disavow” their previous lives. Until that moment, they intend to live it up, no matter the costs to anyone else.

For the Political Classholes, this is NOT failure — THEIR bank accounts are getting filled up, they get to go to all the swanky DC cocktail parties, sex clubs, etc., they get tax-funded medical benefits, they send their kids to the exclusive Sidwell Friends school, etc., etc., etc.

The pending fall of the American Empire that’s keeping their gravy train going doesn’t mean much to them UNTIL the actual derailment.

Just like the Roman Empire, 19th century China, 19th / 20th century Russia, and many other places.

When that fall DOES happen, they will turn to the military, police and intelligence agencies to save their asses and keep the mobs at back long enough to make a getaway, while hauling off enough goodies to survive wherever they flee to. Except this time they tried to make this gig a global one — no where on earth they can hide that someone won’t eventually find them. Unless they like off-grid life in some hut in the Third World. I suspect not many of them have a taste for the rough life.

Even so, the Politcal Classholes are going to lose some of their own. I suspect that they will leave some of “their own” behind to slow down the mob. Kind of like the joke about the two guys being chased by a bear — one guy says to the other, “I don’t have to outrun the bear — I just have to outrun you.”

Those who do get waxed by the crash will get zero sympathy from me.

“Martinez also hammered lawmakers for refusing to pass two pieces of legislation mandating public disclosure of which lawmaker or lawmakers funded a public-works project.”

    Good for her!

“Currently, state legislators have discretion to keep their capital-outlay requests secret.”

    That needs to go away.

Another thing that legislators like to do is to label their pork projects as “emergency measures,” for example, from SB 122:

“SECTION 15. EMERGENCY.–It is necessary for the public peace, health and safety that this act take effect immediately.”

For me, the word “emergency” means a current, proximate threat to human life and well-being, like a car crash, burning building, or someone going on a killing spree. The word “emergency” shouldn’t be applied to whether or not a senior center gets a new microwave oven this year.

If McClown survives his primary challenge, I’m sure there will be quite a few Republicans crying “if u dont vote for McCain your electing a DEMOCRAT!!!!!!!!!!”

I’ve been on the receiving end of this nonsense too often to expect otherwise.

One of the guys who pulled this bit with me told me face to face later, “Michael, we just want to win.”

My response of “So if your candidate wins the election then behaves like a Democrat after being elected, how is that winning?” wasn’t answered with words, but only an angry glare.

I suspect that the Berry Runner “ART” project will come back to haunt Berry should he throw his hat into the 2018 gubernatorial race. The 50-mile-around-Albuquerque bike path was bad enough, but add to that the Berry Runner . . . .
