From The Libertarian EnterpriseSeparation of Medicine and State by L. Neil Smith

It’s time that true health freedom was given a chance.

September 29th – Gallup last week showed a record number of Americans (60%) now think the feds have too much power. Speaking on CNN last Sunday about the debt ceiling, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi said this: “The cupboard is bare. There’s no more cuts to make. It’s really important that people understand that.” Oh really? This from a September 20th Forbes article on a possible government shutdown: “Nonessential employees, about 1/3 of the federal workforce, would be furloughed.” And this 5 days later on NPR’s website: “Whether or not congressional staffers get checks during a shutdown is a little bit harder to discern. The general thinking is that most staffers are considered ‘nonessential’ personnel and therefore won’t be paid.” And yet taxpayers pay 72% of the health insurance premiums for these “nonessential” staffers. So if Pelosi insists the “cupboard is bare” it explains why we’re $17 trillion in debt. Which leaves one final question for all you small business owners: Just how many “nonessential” workers can you afford on your payroll? P

I’ve probably driven by some of their field shoot sessions and never known it. That being said, I have yet to see any episodes of Breaking Bad. When I first heard about it, it didn’t seem like it was worth the time to tune in.

What is there to it beyond the fact that it was shot and produced in Albuquerque?

A big part of it being a hit here is that it was mostly shot and produced here in Albuquerque. I’ve probably driven by some of the outdoor shooting sessions and never even known it.

I first heard about it as it was premiering. Once I found out what it was all about, it didn’t seem like it was worth my time. Maybe I’ll wait a year and get it on DVD?

“Their loss of control of the Congress during the Bush years resulted from their excessive spending in contradiction of their stated values.”

Their 2008 and 2012 presidential candidates didn’t object much if at all that I could see to that excessive spending. When I raised these objections (AND the tendency of McCain and Romney to support victim disarmament “gun control” legislation), I was branded a traitor (despite the fact that I left the GOP in 1994) and was told things like “If your not with us yur with Obama!!!!!”

Now it’s up to the GOP to EARN my vote, starting from scratch.

What am I looking for? Here’s some ideas:

Candidates who support the 2nd Amendment right to own and carry weapons as an individual right, without equivocation, without qualification, without increasing the infringements of that right.

Candidates who refrain from making government any more expensive, intrusive or burdensome upon the private sector.

Candidates who are willing to publicly and explicitly disavow Rudy Giuliani, John McCain and Mitt Romney. For New Mexico candidates, add Heather Wilson to the list.

Principles FIRST, THEN individuals, THEN groups.

My pet peeves about people who don’t understand libertarianism yet feel compelled to expound about it:

    A. There’s the people who equate non-initiation of force with a total disavowal of force (thus discounting the idea of defensive force).

    B. Then there’s the people who assume that anyone who cops to being an anarchist as being of like mind with the Black Bloc creeps who throw bricks through storefront windows. They think anarchism means “no rules” (last time I checked the NAP was a rule) and can’t wrap their heads around the idea of “no rulers” as in the absence of a permanent Ruling Overclass.

After that, my gripes are mostly about apathy amongst those who do understand these ideas and sit around griping that “no one in the libertarian movement actually does anything” while the most that they ever do is show up for a social club session to BS.

Rex’s Latest Inanity

Filed under: Blogging / Writing, Philosophy, Politics — Tags: , — mikewb1971 @ 6:04 AM (06:04)

OK, folks, I’m writing to comment upon Rex May’s latest bit of inanity to “grace” the e-pages of The Libertarian Enterprise

Whatever TLE readers think of Rex’s cartooning talents, let’s face it – his abilities with creating content in the prose format are . . . somewhat lacking.

In fact, they’re mostly copy-and-paste jobs from other people’s blogs and sites. The article linked to here is a prime example of this.

In the first paragraph of last week’s “article,” he just about brags about his emulation of the Joe Biden’s research and writing techniques:

“This could get complicated, so bear with me. First, I did THIS POST a few days back, and note that I didn’t write it—It’s mostly a reprint from John Craig’s blog, HERE. That’s clear? Okay. Now, Vulture of Critique has reacted very cleverly and incisively to John’s clever and incisive post which I cleverly and incisively reblogged, thus”

By the way, this is how Obama created Obamacare. He didn’t develop it on his own – he simply copied and pasted it over from Romney’s plan in Massachusetts, courtesy of Jon Gruber, the MIT economics professor who helped Romney with it in 2005 / 2006.

Thus I ask the staff and readers of TLE :

Is this sort of thing really necessary?

What exactly is the mission, the raison d’etre, for TLE ?

How does publishing copy-and-paste jobs from a white nationalist / conservative camp follower further that mission?

Is TLE jumping the shark?
