And I made sure to cite Heather Wilson as an example of a lousy Republican.

The funniest thing about all this is that one of the attendees asked me if I was backing Heinrich. I replied in the negative, and said that I was backing Jon Barrie instead. She then proceeded to give me the standard (old, tired, used-up) “wasted vote” excuse, at which point I told her I’d sooner put the Glock I was wearing on my belt to my head and pull the trigger than vote for Wilson . . . .

Afterwards, Barrie and I were talking in the parking lot, about future events, the Johnson campaign, among other things, when two elderly women nearby were having car trouble. Barrie went over while I held a flashlight and determined that their car’s coolant supply was extremely low, helped them put some water in, and advised them to stop and get some coolant on the way home. Meanwhile, the attendee who gave me flack about supporting Barrie over Wilson walked right past us without a care in the world.

Would Wilson have lent a hand like Barrie did, or even made an offer of such assistance?

The movie portrayed the spirit of the book very well.

Went to the ATP meeting tonight – reminded them that if they continue to support lousy Republicans, that’s all they’ll ever get.

Les Gov – We are against Drug Prohibition. In that sense, there shouldn’t be any drug testing mandated by government officials at any level of government, federal, state or local, for people who aren’t “in the system” — working for government agencies (condition of employment – you ARE allowed to seek private-sector employers who don’t do this sort of testing) or as welfare clients.

We’re also against the tax-funded welfare state. If people on food stamps want cash out of my pocket, they can ask nicely. Or have the same courage and integrity of a mugger in a back alley off Central Ave.

Coulter Morgan – Has such testing ever been found to be unconstitutional by an actual court decision?

If people who are sucking at the public tit as welfare-state clients don’t like this, they have two choices:

    • Quit taking welfare money they don’t need and continue using whatever substances they please.
    • Stay in the system and use those resources for what they’re supposed to be used for, instead of selling their EBT cards for cash AKA “foodies,” then using that cash for dope.

The term “liberal” was used prior to Woodrow Wilson and FDR to refer to people who today would be called “libertarian.”

That’s the same Woodrow Wilson who had a showing of The Birth of a Nation at the White House and got America into World War I. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Birth_of_a_Nation#Responses for more about the movie.

From what I’ve heard and read, all of the fighting, kidnapping, piracy, etc., is taking place around Mogadishu (where the UN maintains its base) and the southern part (whacko jihadists trying to run the place), while the northern part is relatively quiet.

DNC vs. RNC Spam

Current mood: cynical

Tonight I posted the following screenshot to my Facebook Wall

I’ve been getting this sort of crap for a few months now. I guess not only my paycheck is subject to their whims, but also my inbox, as well?

The funny thing about this is now they’re taking the term “Obamacare” as their own when before, they used to get pissed about it. I guess they’re trying to differentiate it from the Romneycare from which it was copied and pasted into the U.S. Code (and themselves from the Romney-roids).

For what it’s worth, I’ve started getting the equally-annoying robo-calls from the Romney campaign.

Somehow, this is strangely “appropriate” – robot calls and emails from two groups who want to make everyone else into mindless automatons.

Regardless of which sock-puppet “wins” the general election, the rest of us LOSE.

Still, on numerous occasions I’ve pointed out that alternatives to having the Right Hand vs. the Left Hand seeking its way up your rear do exist – both for the White House and for U.S. Senate

  4. Re: Should Helmets Be Required?

One of my close friends here in Albuquerque was cited for riding a motorcycle without a helmet back in the late 1960s or early 1970s. When he went before the judge, he said to the judge, “Show me the law.” The judge couldn’t produce the actual statute requiring anyone to wear a helmet, so the charges were dropped, and New Mexico has been riders’-choice ever since then.
